Building power for working people

West Virginia Coal Miners Say the Future is Build Back Better

"If you love the people of West Virginia, don't be a roadblock to progress"

Joe Manchin blames his disapproval for Biden’s Build Back Better bill on West Virginia coal miners. But the workers we spoke with refute his claim. West Virginia coal miners believe the bill would improve the lives of their children and grandchildren.

More Perfect Union previously exposed Manchin’s dedication to corporations over working people.

United Mine Workers of America members report that 340,000 children are losing critical benefits. They feel non-existent to senators who don’t have a clear plan to save their benefits.

“All we’re asking for is what Joe Biden is trying to offer us in his [Build Back Better]: just a simple handshake, an even playing field,” said one worker.

Senator Manchin has a side to take: coal miners or coal executives.
