We got an inside look into the conversation between Bernie Sanders and unionizing Starbucks workers. Workers opened up about Starbucks’ abusive workplace and sinister union-busting campaign.

One worker told Sanders that they’ve been working full-time while going through chemotherapy just to be able to afford health care. Others spoke about the low wages and poor working conditions that drove them to join the nationwide effort to unionize the coffee giant.

Starbucks has been screwing with workers’ hours in order to bust the union. “Real power rests with very, very wealth people who own the economy, who own our political system,” said Sanders, “and the thing that these guys on top are most afraid of is you.”
