Democratic Rep. Scott Peters (CA), who has taken more pharma donations than any House representative this year, is leading an effort to weaken President Biden’s Build Back Better legislation.
In a key committee vote, Peters helped to kill Biden’s plan to lower drug prices by allowing Medicare to negotiate prescription costs with Big Pharma, a core provision in the bill.
Now Peters’s constituents in San Diego are outraged. “How many hundred thousand dollars does it take to buy that man?” one told us.
