Republicans want to institute work requirements for Medicaid recipients — and they’re willing to hold the U.S. economy hostage to do it. They’ve been refusing to raise the debt ceiling unless Democrats agree to enact a policy nationwide that would force people to prove they work in order to qualify for Medicaid.
