How Virginia Starbucks Workers Beat Howard Schultz and Unionized 5 Stores

The bonds formed between workers proved to be stronger than Starbucks' anti-union efforts.

Shortly after Buffalo-area stores won their union elections, Starbucks stores in Richmond, Virginia, began their unionization journey.

On Tuesday, Starbucks workers pulled off a stunning sweep, winning 5 consecutive union elections in Richmond, VA. These are the first union Starbucks stores in Virginia, a notoriously anti-labor state.

In winning, Richmond Starbucks workers were able to overcome Starbucks’s aggressive anti-union campaign led by its CEO Howard Schultz.

Yet again, the bonds formed between workers proved to be stronger than corporate’s anti-union efforts.
